Most of Merrie Martin's time is spent in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with frequent trips to New York City. Minetta Designs evolved out of affection for and the influence of both places.
She enjoys the extreme yet balanced contrast of these two cities and tries to let that come through in her jewelry designs.
Turquoise, coral, silver, gold, and so many other trade beads have a strong history and appeal in many different cultures. Merrie loves working with these simple basic elements, weaving them together into something new. She loves creating elegant jewelry that won't drain one's
savings accounts but will delight the wearer.
Whether she's working in a small room in the west village of New York or in her studio in the high desert wilds of Santa Fe, Merrie delights in putting these pieces together.
After collecting so many different elements from all of her travels for so many years, Merrie Martin now has a wonderful working palette.
To her these pieces are an expression of affection, mementos of time shared, friendly gestures.
